Abstract

The chromosome pairing affinities and some morphological comparisons are described between the hybrids Avena longiglumis × A. damascena, A. damascena × A. canariensis, and A. damascena × A. sativa in relation to each other and some previously reported diploid × diploid and diploid × hexaploid hybrids. Genomic affinities in the A. longiglumis × A. damascena and A. damascena × A. sativa hybrids were found to be consistent with similar hybrids reported previously, but the A. damascena × A. canariensis hybrids show a very close cytogenetic relationship.Key words: oats, hexaploid, Avena hybrids, synapsis.
