Abstract

When studying microalgae in the plankton of Amurskii Bay, Sea of Japan, we found solitary cells and chains of the diatom alga Atteya longicornis. This is the first record of this species in Russian seas. The results of studies on this species in both the natural environment and in culture allow us to present a detailed morphological description compiled using data of both light and electron microscopy and to supplement the information about the biology and ecology of this species.
