Abstract

Abstract The character and pattern of deglaciation during the Loch Lomond Stadial (Younger Dryas) in the Scottish Highlands has been the subject of considerable debate during the last 30 years. This reflects the absence of an agreed model with which to interpret the geomorphological residue left by the ice‐fields and corrie glaciers of this period. This paper provides a brief review of the different geomorphological approaches, interpretations and models which have been applied to this problem, with particular reference to recent developments.
