Abstract

In the last decade some isolation procedures were developed to obtain an increase in the number of progeny born per dam from a high number of oocytes manipulated in vitro (Telfer, 1996). Regarding these methods their relative performance abilities (number of oocytes isolated) is well known, but there is a lack of adequate information regarding their effectiveness (number of viable oocites after isolation), as well as their use in the italian domestic species. The aims of the present study were: characterize the population of preantral follicles in situ from Chianina cows ovaries and to analyze the mechanical method efficiency for isolation
