Abstract

In this work, morpholine was stabilized on nano silica sulfuric acid. The stabilization process was confirmed using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and thermogravimetric techniques. The obtained reagent was identified. Then it was used as a novel acidic reagent for the promotion of the synthesis of 5-aryl methylene barbituric and pyrano[2,3-d]pyrimidinone (thione) derivatives. The procedure leads to the requested products with excellent yields during very short reaction times. Also, the introduced catalyst can be reused for several times without considerable loss of its catalytic activity.
