Abstract

In rats morphine, like chlopromazine, produced catalepsy and raised striatal homovanillic acid levels. Analysis of interactions between each of these cataleptogenic agents and naloxone, 1-DOPA and apomorphine strongly suggests that morphine influences striatal dopamine (DA) metabolism and produces catalepsy by a mechanism different from that of chlorpromazine.
