Abstract

The Education and Human Resources Committee sponsored a panel session on “The Two‐Career Couple” during the 1985 AGU Fall Meeting. Panelists were Gerard and Patricia Fryer (Hawaii Institute of Geophysics (HIG), Honolulu), Richard and Christina Scott (Acurex, Inc. and Earth Sciences Associates, Palo Alto), and Catherine Nigrini (private consultant, La Habra, Calif.). The panelists were asked to outline the stages in their personal and professional lives and to discuss the lessons they felt that they had learned and the advice that they wish others had given them. About 40 people attended the session; more than half of them were men, many of whom appeared to be mid‐career professionals.
