Abstract

This case series intends to highlight clinical signs and symptoms of external ophthalmomyiasis caused by larvae of Oestrus ovis. Data were collected from January 2022 to January 2023 at a tertiary eye care center in central India regarding presenting features of patients with external ophthalmomyiasis. In total, 59 cases of established ophthalmomyiasis with a similar organism were recorded. An acute red eye can be caused by a wide spectrum of pathologies, some being as uncommon as a fly larva. Hence, it is important to perform a thorough ophthalmic examination in all patients presenting with inflamed red eyes of unknown cause.
