Abstract

From an early age, Henk Brulleman, CFA, director of Europe for Numeric Investors L.P., knew that he wanted to pursue a career in investing. As a kid, was always intrigued by the financial pages in the newspapers, he said. I wondered what those pages and pages of numbers were all about. At university, his keen interest prompted him to start an investment club with his friends, an expression of his lifelong fascination with investing. Today, Brulleman is stationed in The Hague, Netherlands, where he is responsible for portfolio management, research, and client servicing for Numeric's European products and clients. Prior to that, he was deputy CIO at Shell Pension Fund, Holland. In this question-and-answer style interview, Brulleman puts a causal spin on the science of quantitative research.
