Abstract
At the meeting of the American Philological Association in December 1968, George P. Goold delivered a paper rejecting the authenticity of the Helen Episode in Aen. 2. His fuller discussion of the passage has now appeared in Harvard Studies.1 I will begin by expressing my general assent to Goold's exposition of the quality of the testimony, and then will proceed to examine certain aspects of the passage which I believe to merit further comment.
