Abstract

Dercum’s disease (lipomatosis dolorosa = LD) is a relatively unknown disease. The upper arms, elbows, stomach wall, buttrocks, thighs and knees are most affected by painful subcutaneous fatty tissue deposits. Analgesic and/or non-steroidal antirheumatic drugs usually have minor or no effect. Here, we report the case of a patient with LD, who was successfully treated with pregabalin (Lyrica®) and manual lymphatic drainage, and present a current overview of the literature.
