Morbillivirus and Pilot Whale Deaths, Canary Islands, Spain, 2015 Pilot whales are known to be susceptible to 2 strains of CeMV, PWMV, and dolphin morbillivirus [3,7,8]. We report deaths of 3 short-finned pilot whales caused by PWMV in the northeastern Atlantic Ocean along the coast of the Canary Islands, Spain.
