Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine if having knowledge of Kohlberg’s theory is significantly related to moral stage development. One dependent variable, stage development, and five independent variables, knowledge of theory, sex, age, academic ability, and socioeconomic status, were included within the study. Ninety-six subjects participated, with 47 subjects assigned to the experimental group. A linear regression model was used to test the relationship between knowledge of the theory and stage development; and a multiple-regression analysis was used to test the multivariate relationship between the dependent and independent variables. Neither analysis produced a F value significant at the .05 level.
