Abstract

This text presents and analyzes aspects of the North American culture represented in some of Monteiro Lobato’s critical, fictional and personal texts. The Brazilian writer discusses narratives and ideology of movies; translates and incorporates into his work some themes of written culture; helps to increase the circulation of North American books in Brazil; and also writes comments from the point of view of someone who experienced the America of the late 1920s
