Abstract

Monte Carlo simulation has been used to study the magnetic properties of a mixed spin-2 and spin-5/2 ferrimagnetic Ising model on a honeycomb lattice. The complete phase diagrams of the system have been obtained for different single-ion anisotropies. The system displays very rich critical behaviors, including the first- and second-order phase transition, the tricritical points and the compensation points. In particular, the effects of the single-ion anisotropy and the longitudinal magnetic field on the magnetization, the susceptibility, the compensation temperature and hysteresis loops are discussed in detail. A number of characteristic phenomena such as the possibility of two compensation points have been found, due to the competition among the single-ion anisotropy, the exchange interaction, the applied longitudinal magnetic field and the temperature. It is interesting that double and triple hysteresis loop behaviors have been observed. Our results are compared with other theoretical works and a very good agreement is achieved.
