Abstract

The two-dimensional Heisenberg model is simulated in the very-low-temperature region. The data for the spin stiffness \ensuremath{\rho}, as a function of lattice size L\ensuremath{\in}[8,256] and temperature T\ensuremath{\in}[0.05,0.20], are in excellent agreement with the predictions of the continuous nonlinear \ensuremath{\sigma} model. Precise values for the correlation length are obtained. \textcopyright{} 1996 The American Physical Society.
