Abstract

In this, the third part of an extensive study of electron drift and diffusion in counting gas mixtures, we report the results of Monte Carlo calculations for xenon, ethane and eight mixtures containing either or both of these gases. Calculated values of the drift velocity, and of the transverse and longitudinal diffusion coefficients, are compared with the available experimental measurements in the range of field-to-pressure quotients 0.06 ⩽ E p ⩽ 2.0 V/cm Torr .
