Abstract

A comparison between Monte Carlo and Boltzmann calculations extended to all the parameters of interest for swarm experiment analyses in N2 is presented. It is confirmed that multi-term calculations substantially improve the 2-term results. Important discrepancies remain, however, between Monte Carlo and analytical multi-term values of the longitudinal-diffusion coefficient. For other parameters, such as drift velocity and transversal-diffusion coefficient, the agreement between Monte Carlo and 6-term theory is much better, even if not always perfect.
