Abstract

A numerical method for the generation of enclosures for the solution of the Thomas-Fermi equation on a semi-infinite interval is proposed. The method is based on the monotone discretization principle and on available global bounds for the solution. The convergence of the new method on refined and extended grids is investigated where available bounds are used to increase the local step size with increasing arguments.
