Abstract
Abstract The synthesis of twenty three complexes of cobalt(III), nickel(II), palladium(II), platinum(II), copper(II) and zinc(II) having three novel monothio-β-diketones, RC(SH)[dbnd]CHCOCF3, (R [dbnd] 3′-fluorophenyl, 4′-propylphenyl and 2′,4′,5′-triethoxyphenyl) and the known ligand with R as 2′-furyl is reported. Their dipole moments were determined in benzene solution at 25°C by static-polarization measurement. The dipole moment data of the four-coordinate nickel, palladium and platinum chelates clearly indicates a cis-square planar configuration. 1H and 19F NMR spectral data confirm the facial configuration of the six-coordinate cobalt(III) complexes. The four-coordinate zinc complexes have a tetrahedral structure and the copper complexes are believed to have a distorted cis-square planar structure.
