Abstract

In contrast with red cells, platelets, and granulocytes, hemotherapy using lymphocytes and monocytes is only beginning to be explored. Blood banks and transfusion services, the traditional sources of expertise in sterile cell processing, storage, and transfusion, have played an integral role in the early technical development of mononuclear cell adoptive immunotherapy, and are logical partners in its future. This article reviews the clinical experience with this novel transfusion therapy.
