Abstract

Blood typing typically relies upon polyclonal antisera to characterize the red blood cells of individuals. As those attending a recent workshop and symposium ★ ★ The first international symposium and workshop on monoclonal antibodies against human red blood cell and related antigens, organized by the Centre National de Reference pour les Groupes Sanguins, was held in Paris, France, on 21–24 September 1987. heard, although monoclonal antibodies offer great promise, their implementation in typing is far from easy. But they are already proving useful in the characterization of the red blood cell antigens themselves.
