Abstract

The series of complexes [N 3P 3(OC 6H 5) 5X ML n ]PF 6, X=OC 6H 4CH 2CN, N(CH 3)(CH 2) 2CN or OC 6H 4PPh 2, and [N 3P 3(X) 6 · (ML n ) 6](PF 6) 6, X= OC 6H 4CH 2CN or N(CH 3)(CH 2) 2CN with ML n =CpFe(dppe) and CpRu(PPh 3) 2 have been synthesized by reaction of the corresponding cyclophosphazene ligands: N 3P 3(OC 6H 5) 5OC 6H 4CH 2CNL 1, N 3P 3(OC 6H 5) 5N(CH 3)(CH 2) 2CNL 2, N 3P 3(OC 6H 5) 5OC 6H 4PPh 2L 3, N 3P 3(OC 6H 4 CH 2CN) 6L 4 and N 3P 3(N(CH 3)(CH 2) 2CN) 6L 5 with the respective organometallic CpFe(dppe)I and CpRu(PPh 3) 2Cl in CH 3OH as solvent and in presence or of NH 4PF 6. The new compounds were characterized by elemental analysis and IR, UV–Visible and multinuclear NMR spectroscopy. Cyclic voltammetry studies indicate that the cyclophosphazene dendrimers act as insulators between the organometallic centers.
