Abstract

The caryophyllidean monozoic tapeworm Monobothrium wageneri is recorded for the first time in the U.K. in tench Tinca tinca from four different sites in S.E. England. The likelihood that this is an exotic import is discussed. It is considered that the weight of evidence indicates that it has been introduced into the U.K. probably in ornamental tench.
