Abstract

1.1. Three more cases of monoamniotic twins are reported. Two of the 3 cases resulted in double fetal survival.2.2. Recognition of twisted cords and absence of a second bag of waters should lead one to suspect the condition of monoaminiotic twins and prompt delivery of the second twin always should be carried out.3.3. A change in the often quoted prognosis for double survival is warranted because of the increase in survival rates in the last 27 years. The previously reported figures of 16 per cent survival by Quigley have been superseded by the more recent summary reports of King, Salerno, Raphael and ourselves. The “modern” survival rate, since 1935, is approximately 50 per cent.
