Abstract

Purpose: Physical activity (PA) is important to general health and has been shown to play an increasing role in knee osteoarthritis (OA). Specifically, work-related physical activity is an established risk factor for knee OA with increasing levels of workload shown to carry an increased risk of disease incidence and progression. Appropriate methods for the measurement of work-related PA are, however, unclear and there is a need for real-world, continuous monitoring of work-place PA with a particular focus on estimating loading within the lower-limbs.
