Abstract

Mechanical surface treatments are specialized processes for improving part properties during their lifetime. However, they are additional processes within the process chain, which generate costs and use additional resources. In order to reduce the reject rate within the production line, process monitoring and process simulation need to be developed for these processes. Within the presented project, the effects of different materials, pre-machining and deep rolling tools are analyzed to simulate the surface quality. The effect of process parameters on the surface quality is measured to identify the limits of a surface integrity control system for deep rolling.
