Abstract
AbstractThis study investigates and evaluates the change in vibration characteristics such as natural frequency, mode shape for reinforced concrete frames under various loadings. Firstly, vibration-based structural health monitoring (SHM) methods are briefly presented. Secondly, a reinforced concrete frame’s finite element (FE) model is simulated by using ANSYS software. The frame is applied by different levels of load. The reliability and feasibility of simulation results are verified by comparing them with experimental ones. Finally, the occurrence and expansion of the crack zones in the frame under various loadings is accurately warned by using the vibration-based SHM methods. The results from this study show that the use of vibration characteristics to detect the damages in reinforced concrete frames achieves high efficiency.KeywordsStructural health monitoringNatural frequencyMode shapeNumerical simulationReinforced concrete frame
