Abstract
Spider mites Tetranychus urticae Koch and Tetranychus cinnabarinus Boisd (Acari: Tetranychidae) are economically important and widespread pests of many agricultural crops in protected ground in Russia. Spider mites are mainly controlled with the help of pesticides, several generations which such as pyrethroids, avermectins have been widely used around the globe. The intensive and often scientifically unsubstantiated use of pesticides leads to the appearance of resistant populations. At the same time, the limited set of pesticides approved for use against mites in protected ground of Russia also contributes to the development of resistance. Understanding of the resistance of spider mites to pesticides will increase their effectiveness and anticipate it better. Long-term screening spider mites for resistance to insectoacaricides was carried out by us in large greenhouse complexes from different country regions. The results of these investigations show that two-spotted spider mite T. urticae was the most common species on vegetable or ornamental plants. The red spider mite T. cinnabarinus was also found. In one of the greenhouse, the spider mite T. sawzdargi was detected. The mites T.urticae and T. cinnabarinus are formed highly resistant populations primarily to abamectin - is one of the most widely used ones. Resistance ratios to Vertimec EC, 18 g/l (abamectin), reach extremely high levels in some greenhouses (RR50 up to 1060), which makes the most intensive use of this insectoacaricide impractical. As effective acaricide that do not exhibit cross-resistance to abamectin, it is rational to use a preparation based on bifenthrin Clipper EC, 100 g / l. Resistance ratios (RR50) to Clipper of mites field populations resistant to abamectin did not exceed values of 12-14,0.
