Abstract

Abstract The responses of European red mite (ERM) strains to propargite were determined by using discriminating concentration (DC) and multiple concentration test techniques. In determining levels of resistance both techniques provided similar conclusions. Propargite resistance was found in two of the 11 field‐collected ERM strains tested. The major advantages of using a DC were less time and fewer individuals required than for a multiple concentration test. Procedures for conducting DC resistance tests are recommended.
