Abstract

The activity concentrations of238Pu,239,240Pu,241Am,242Cm and244Cm and the discharged activities of these radionuclides in airborne effluents of V-3 and V-4 nuclear power plant were determined. In the case of V-4 the activity concentrations of individual radionuclides in airborne effluents in 1994, 1995, 1996 and 1997 were very low and the annual discharges of individual radionuclides were less than 100 Bq. Similar data were found in case of V-3 in 1994 and 1995. In 1996, however, increased concentrations of transuranium elements in airborne effluents were observed as a result of a defect in the fuel cladding. The annual discharges of238Pu,239,240Pu,241Am,242Cm and244Cm were 3438, 1771, 1009, 18636 and 1212 Bq, respectively. Variations of the present discharge data with time and of those obtained previously at the nuclear power plant under study and the nuclear power plant V-1 and V-2 (J. Bohunice, Slovak Republic), activity ratios of radionuclides in discharged gases and other related topics are presented and discussed.
