Abstract

Smart grid faces a number of challenges to efficiently and effectively transmit power from generation to end users. So, a robust monitoring mechanism is essential to monitor the status of transmission lines and towers. Many state-of-the-art techniques are present in literature, to timely and precisely locate the problem. In this paper, we present a three level hybrid model for real-time monitoring of transmission lines. In this regard, we developed a mathematical framework to measure the feasibility of our model. Further, we study optimal position of direct links in order to minimize the delay of information delivery. We also investigate the total energy consumed in data transmission. Results show that proposed model is effective in delivering information at minimum delay.
