Abstract

The supervision of technical processes has been subjected to an increasing development, due to the increased demands on reliability and safety of industrial plants. The use of digital computers and parameter estimation methods allows the application of supervision methods which result in substantial earlier detection and localization of process faults than with conventional limit and trend checks. Many process faults are associated with changes in the physical characteristics. Therefore process monitoring based on parameter estimation methods for continuous-time, time invariant and time variant process models was subject to some research. Applications are shown for an engine set, existing of an electrical drive and a centrifugal pump.
