Abstract

The present works is carried out to monitor the concentrations of heavy metals in water sediments and fishes present in Yamuna River, with the view to evaluate and monitor the contamination in Yamuna river water and for public health issue. Water, sediments and fish samples were collected from different sites of Yamuna River in Allahabad. Metal contaminations in water showed significant correlation and seasonal variations with atmospheric deposition. The study revealed a positive metal contamination in Yamuna River, fishes and sediments for human health perspectives. The data revaled that, Cu, and As although remained below their maximum permissible concentration but, levels of Pb and Zn in waters at six sites of river in Allahabad had higher than their maximum permissible concentrations.
