Abstract

AbstractThis work presents the development of a monitoring and control application for an electrical machine based on a test bench composed of a single-phase induction electric motor coupled to a brake system, to control the load applied to the shaft. The test bench was developed to allow test emulations to be carried out on electrical machines. The type of electric motor used can be changed, keeping the proposal valid. The bench has a data acquisition system to measure the physical variables of the engine and its load. In the current version, current consumption and torque applied to the shaft are monitored, but variables such as temperature, rotational speed, vibration, etc. can be included. The monitored variables are captured by a microcontroller and transmitted via USB to a computer to be pre-processed using a Python language application. Afterward, the data is transmitted to a platform hosted in the cloud for definitive storage, post-processing, and adequate display to users, thus configuring an application in the context of the Internet of Things – IoT. The results obtained so far in the monitoring of current and torque were satisfactory and demonstrated the potential of the proposal as a tool for studies and tests in electrical machines in general.KeywordsElectric motorCurrent and torque monitoringInternet of Things
