Abstract

Monica Alvarado was born in Santiago, Chile. She trained as a genetic counsellor at the University of California, Irvine, and is a genetic counsellor and assistant professor of clinical paediatrics at USC/Norris Comprehensive Cancer in Los Angeles, USA. She is also a consultant for the genetic disease branch of the California State Department of Health Services, where she advises on the cultural competency of genetics educational materials, and for the March of Dimes/California Birth Defects Monitoring Program.
