Abstract

Introduction: The purpose of this study was to determine if an educational poster would increase the number of trauma life support (TLS) interventions at rural emergency departments (EDs) prior to flight team arrival, thus decreasing the number of packaging tasks performed by flight nurses. Methods: We prospectively compared TLS interventions performed at rural EDs before and after distribution of an educational poster that listed nationally standardized interventions. Flight nurses recorded the number of TLS interventions performed at referring EDs and flight nurse packaging time. Results: Data were collected on 50 patients in each group over a 16 month period from 15 rural EDs.
