Abstract

Following the work of Berakdar (1996 Phys. Rev. A 532316), momentum correlation in the three-body Coulomb continuumproblem is considered by the introduction of effective Sommerfeldparameters for both the symmetric and the asymmetric geometry. Thetriple differential cross sections for electron impact ionization ofatomic helium at incident energies of 50 eV in the asymmetric geometryare calculated. Results of this approach are compared with the absolutemeasurements, the results of the BBK model without modification, theconvergent close-coupling calculations and the results of our earliermodel.
