Abstract

The endplate blind bolted connection is a common type in concrete-filled circle steel tube (CFCST) structures. The moment-rotation relationship describes the mechanical performance of connection obviously. For the purpose of predicting the moment-rotation relationship of the endplate blind bolted connection between CFCST column and steel beam, a three-parameter exponential model is proposed in this paper based on the four-parameter exponential model. With consideration of possible failure modes, a determination method is put forward for predicting the ultimate moment. Then, the simplified mechanical model of each component is established. To predict the initial stiffness of connection, the calculation model is proposed based on the component method. The predicted results derived by proposed models agree well with the experimental results. The proposed model can avoid a lot of experiments and numerical simulations because only the configurations and material properties are required to obtain the desired parameters. In addition, it can be conveniently applied to the structural design and analysis for the connection between CFCST column and steel beam with different configurations.
