Abstract

I Recently assigned the following calculus problem to my class: Find the moment of inertia of a cone of radius r and altitude h about its axis, if its mass density is D. This problem caused considerable controversy among students and stimulated the entire class to discussion, for two different methods of solution had apparently produced two different answers.
