Abstract

As a result of these investigations a technology was developed for manufacturing thermoelectric wire from molybdenum and rhenium ingots. An optimum content of rhenium in molybdenum was determined (MR-20, MR-40 and MR-50) for the manufacture of thermocouples with the best thermoelectrical and mechanical characteristics: MR-20/50 and MR-20/40. It has been shown that molybdenum-rhenium alloy thermocouples can be used for measuring temperature in carbon-containing media (in direct contact with graphite) for a limited time which does exceed 1–2 h at 1500‡C.
