Abstract

A combination of molybdatophosphoric acid (H 3 PMo 1 2 O 4 0 .xH 2 O) and sodium nitrite in the presence of wet SiO 2 was used as an effective oxidizing agent for the oxidation of 1,4-dihydropyridines to the corresponding pyridine derivatives under mild and heterogeneous conditions in excellent yields.
