Abstract
Of the analysis of five rocky areas in the intertidal zone of the Emeraldas Province: Tachina, Balao, Sua-Atacames, Galera and Mompiche, from the limit of the high tide to the limit of the low tide, were founded nine (9) species of drilling bivalves mollusks, that belong to three families: Mytilidae, Petricolidae and Pholadidae. Petricola denticulata was the most abundantspecies in the Emeraldas Province and represents the 26.1% among all species, whiles the sites or stations that were observed the greater abundance of organisms were Balao and Súa-Atacames with 39.1% each one. The greater richness of species was observed in Súa-Atacames,having represented 50% of the total diversity. In Tachina station, drillingrock organisms were not observed. The distribution of the following speciesis extended: Petricola cognata from the area of Panama to Ecuador and Petricola parallela from Nicaragua to Ecuador.
