Abstract

A 72-year-old woman was referred with suspicion of ocular surface squamous neoplasia because 2 leukoplakic nodules were noted on the bulbar conjunctiva (Fig A). Medical history was significant for atopic keratoconjunctivitis and atopic dermatitis. The nodules were excised en bloc followed by alcohol epitheliectomy. Unexpectedly, histopathology of the conjunctival tissue (hematoxylin & eosin stain) showed a cup-shaped lesion with hyperplastic epithelium surrounding intracytoplasmic eosinophilic inclusion bodies characteristic of molluscum contagiosum (Fig B).
