Abstract
The molecular structure of tris(dipivaloylmethanato)yttrium has been determined by gas phase electron diffraction. The molecule is monomeric and has a trigonal prismatic structure. The molecular parameters are as follows: r a(YO) = 2.230(5) Å, r a(CO) = 1.283(4) Å, r a(CC ring) = 1.411(8) Å, r a(CC tert) = 1.503(13) Å, r a(CC meth) = 1.553(6) Å, ∠OYO = 75.0(11)°, folding of the ligand about the O⋯O axis, θ =17.0(29)°.
