Abstract

The infrared absorption spectra of two new classes of liquid crystals: fluorinated derivatives of alkylcyclohexanecarboxylic acids (1) and copper-Schiff base complexes (2) were measured in the spectral region 4000-100 cm −1 in the temperature range from 100 to 450 K. With the aim of assignment of the obtained IR bands the normal vibration analysis of several conformers of studied compounds was fulfilled. The pecularities of the conformational mobility in the different crystal phases were discussed. The results were compared with the data obtained by means of X-ray diffraction and differential thermal analysis (DTA).
