Abstract

Interfacial molecular recognition: Systems consisting of an amphiphilic melamine-type monolayer and a non-surface-active pyrimidine derivative (thymine, uracil) dissolved in the aqueous subphase are representative model arrangements for molecular recognition. The formation of interfacial supramolecular entities changes drastically—and specifically—the characteristic interfacial features of the amphiphilic monolayer (see picture).
