Abstract
The phase transitions of the polymers (CH 2 C[Me][COO(CH 2 ) 11 OPhRPh(C 8 H 16 O 5 )]) n (R= PhOCO, C≡C) containing benzo-15-crown-5 units in the side chain are studied before and after complexation with NaSO 3 CF 3 . The results demonstrate the ability to self-regulate the phase behaviour of side chain liquid crystalline polymers containing crown ethers via molecular recognition. In particular, the enhancement of the temperature range of various mesophases via complexation is rewarding
