Abstract

Protease uexin-1 (PN-1) is one of the most important members of Serpin superfamily. The abnormal expressions are observed in many human cancers, such as pancreatic cancer, breast cancer, colon cancer, testicular cancer and so on.PN1 participates in tumor cell proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis, angiogenesis and invasion by inhibiting multiple proteases and extracellular signal regulated kinase (ERK) pathways and promotes tumor occurrence, development and metastasis. In prostate cancer particularly,PN-1 inhibits tumor occurrence, development and metastasis by inhibiting urokinase plasminogen activator (uPA),Hh signaling pathway and interacting with matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-9. Key words: Apoptosis; Neoplasm metastasis; Neoplasm invasiveness; Protease nexin-1
