Abstract

Experimentally measured density (ρ), viscosity (η) and speed of sound (u) for L-Histidine in aqueous ionic liquid 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate ([C4mim][BF4]) solutions at different temperatures ranging (293.15–318.15) K has been used to determine various volumetric, viscometric and compressibility parameters, i.e. apparent molar properties (VΦ, KΦ, s), limiting apparent molar properties (VoΦ, KoΦ,s), transfer properties (VoΦ,tr, KoΦ,s,tr, Btr), hydration number (nH). Viscosity coefficients A and B have been computed to investigate the precious information about the complicated phenomenon undergoing between ionic liquid [C4mim][BF4] and the head/side chain cluster of amino acid. Based on co-sphere overlap model variety of intermolecular interactions prevailing in the ternary solutions and using Hepler's constant and temperature derivative of B-coefficients (dB/dT) the structure making/breaking nature of solute have been investigated.
